Hondo

Hondo came to us from Deborah Richardson's ranch in Montana. She breeds exceptional dogs--mostly red. While technically a shaded sable, he can also be called a red sable. Hondo is on the large end of the English Shepherd range at just under 70 pounds. His dam was also a shaded sable--with more pronounced black markings. His sire was a shaded sable. There was one tri-color in Hondo's litter, with the rest variations on Hondo's theme. Hondo is the living embodiment of the English Shadow; he loves his people. He is protective and attentive. He senses our moods. He is tolerant and patient. He adores children. He also has a remarkable "off-switch," meaning he can chill out when nothing is going on. The off-switch is how we can homeschool eight children with three dogs in the house. When we're doing school, the dogs nap. When the kids are ready to play, the dogs have endless enthusiasm. Hondo is not reactive to other animals or people, so he makes a great running buddy for me. He is very dignified. He is perfection.
